Tom Mozina is a Design Principal at Perkins+Will with over twenty-five years of experience in architecture. He is responsible for overseeing design teams and leading the overall design direction on large, complex projects. With each new opportunity, Tom carefully considers the client’s goals, unique program, and the project’s site in developing design solutions that strive to connect the architecture with its environmental and cultural context. Committed to employing the principles of sustainable design, he is acutely focused on: proper daylighting strategies, prioritizing energy and water efficiencie, and using healthy materials, resulting in functional, high-performance, and aesthetically pleasing spaces.

As a Senior Designer, Tom has been involved in the design and management of a number of significant projects for Perkins+Will, including the new corporate headquarters for Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina, the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and the new business school for the University of Minnesota – Duluth. He served as the co-director of the firm’s Sustainable Design Initiative, helping to develop, write and implement the firm’s first strategic plan. Tom also helped form the firm’s first “green team”, a group of employees dedicated to greening the firm’s operations and strengthening Perkins+Will’s sustainable design practice.

Tom has worked with a wide variety of clients and building types, ranging from corporate and commercial to K-12, higher education, and aviation. His experience in designing for clients from a wide variety of cultures and landscapes across the globe has enriched and expanded his design perspective. Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin in 1986 and a Master of Science in Architecture in 1989.
