The Seattle office of Perkins+Will received the 2017 Civic Design Award of Citation, by the AIA Washington Council, for the design of the newly remodeled Troy Hall at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman. The award recognized the team for its “collaboration for design excellence in the public process.” The design-build team comprised Lydig Construction and Perkins+Will.
The project transformed an early 20th century cheese factory into a 50,000 square-foot, four-story modern academic science facility for the WSU Department of Chemistry and School of the Environment. Troy Hall is one of the first higher education projects in Washington to partially preserve, adaptively re-use and expand a historic building through the design-build delivery model.
The recognition was presented on October 27th as part of the annual awards program that was held in conjunction with AIA Northwest & Pacific Region.
